I knew I wanted to be a massage therapist from early on. I was not only interested in the way our bodies function, I was also intrigued by the power of caring human touch- the way a simple touch from a friend or loved one has the ability to unwind us mentally and physically. Caring touch is so basic and so important but it is easily forgotten about. The ability to bring touch into people's lives was and still is the most appealing aspect of this profession to me.

In August 2012 I graduated from the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy where I was trained in Swedish and deep tissue techniques, myofascial release, and sports massage.
My goal during each massage session is to create a space for a client where the mind and body are able to let go and where awareness is encouraged to shift from next week's to-do list and back home into the body and into the present moment. This is the space where the client can do his/her best healing.
My style is generally a blend of Swedish, deep-tissue, and myofascial release techniques because each modality has it's own unique benefits; when combined, they make for a complete-feeling massage that is both effective and soothing. I understand that the term "deep-tissue" is daunting for many people. Sometimes it is necessary to access deeper layers of muscle tissue in order to facilitate change and to help restore balance to the musculoskeletal system. This does not mean, however, that a client need be in teeth-gritting pain for an hour or more. In fact, that level of discomfort is counterproductive. During a deep-tissue session I will work gradually into the muscle tissue while checking in regularly with the client to make sure that he/she is comfortable. If he/she is experiencing discomfort, or if on the other hand the client feels he/she could use some more pressure, I am always glad to adjust my pressure in either direction.
I never work by a routine or with an agenda. I understand that each of my clients is a unique person with unique needs, preferences, and a specific level of comfort. It is a priority of mine to remain mindful of these things during my client's custom-fit session.
Looking forward to meeting you!
