Stephanie Gordon has bachelor’s degrees in nutrition and education; as well as a master’s degree in traditional Oriental medicine from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago.
Stephanie worked as a certified birth doula for several years, which led her to conduct frequent research on safe and effective alternative treatments for pregnant women who wanted to avoid taking prescription drugs or having surgeries. Often, the answer to a client’s ailments seemed to be acupuncture; but when asked by one woman whether the procedure is painful, Stephanie decided to find out for herself.
“After six sessions, I found that I’d been cured of my debilitating migraines, which I’d suffered with for my whole life until that point,” she said. “And it was then that I knew what I wanted to do in life: further my education and enter the medical field, but in an alternative practice. So I went back to school to study acupuncture, herbs, nutrition, massage and exercise. I worked as an independent contractor at a few different clinics before I started Sacred Dunes.”
In addition to running her practice, Stephanie is a board member of the Michigan City Mainstreet Association, and a member of the Michigan City Area Chamber of Commerce, Lakefront Career Network, Uptown Arts District Merchants Association and Michigan City Brand Development Committee.
