Elise Frost, LMT is a performing artist, movement researcher, educator and bodyworker holding an MFA in Dance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BFA in
Dance Performance and Composition from the University of Florida.
Alongside her dance education she has continuously sought out, experienced and learned about several somatic methods that have laid the foundation for her movement research and love of bodywork. She co-produced her first full-length dance performance in 2006 and founded an Orlando based contemporary dance company in 2012 and throughout that time worked as a guest artist with several performance companies in the Southeast.
From 2014 – 2019 Elise was employed as an instructor of dance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and began developing movement curriculum geared toward consent and accessibility of movement with diverse populations.
Her pursuit of knowledge in qualitative experiences of embodiment and applications of critical theory in performance and making dances prompted her to dive deeper into the science of the body and the art of facilitating mindful experiences of touch through the program at The Berkana Institute of Massage Therapy.
She braids these diverse experiences of physical practice in order to continue to better understand and develop methods and infrastructures of human connection, movement and ecological stewardship. Her primary focus is on how movement systems, wholehearted engagement, and critical thinking can facilitate community and increase quality of life. She is a proud member of the Cafe of Life team in Longmont and currently serves on faculty at the Berkana Institute of Massage Therapy.
