I was attracted to massage therapy because I am a physical person who enjoys being active and firmly believes in the power of preventive medicine and self care for whole wellness.  I am also a creative person and massage therapy and bodywork is an outlet for that, my goal being that my clients benefit from that creativity.  Every client and every massage is different--I use what I have learned in my formal education in massage therapy at Bluestone Academy of Massage in Ellensburg, WA, continuing education courses, books, seminars, research, personal experience, and my own intuition along with what my client wants to create a custom massage experience.  I have a background in allopathic medicine (I am a non-practicing M.D. and I do not diagnose or prescribe in my role as an LMP) and a passion for herbs/herbal medicine. Many of the products I use in massage are oil blends and balms I have created.  Growing some of my own herbs is an adventure and learning process.  Calendula, sage, rosemary, lavender, skullcap, feverfew and borage have been pretty successful the past couple of years and I'm excited to see what this next growing season brings to harvest.  Among other things like dancing, singing in the car to my favorite songs, travel, massage technique courses, herbal conferences and herb foraging, I enjoy the outdoors, especially when it involves hiking, mountain biking and cross country skiing.  A lot of thinking, processing and, if I'm lucky, new ideas occur on a good hike and it's also an opportunity to learn a new wildflower or shrub or tree, and watch them change along with the seasons.

In the last two years I have completed over 200 hours of continuing education and workshops in massage therapy and the science of pain, well above the minimum required by law. Continually learning and adding to my therapeutic techniques is one of my passions, as is combining them in a creative way to deliver a unique massage experience for each individual. Ashiatsu and Deep Lomi are my current educational focus. Also in my tool box is a range of specific techniques for the head and neck, including those that can help with temporomandibular joint issues such as intraoral massage.
