In life before massage, I was a teacher in Italy. In 2007, my husband had the opportunity to move to the US, and for more than a decade I enjoyed being a full-time mom, a wife and volunteer.
Massage came to me only after three different color ribbons happened in my family. It helped me stay sane in the most stressful period of our life. I soon realized I would enjoy giving as well as receiving a massage, so I enrolled in massage school.
After being diagnosed with lymphedema, I obtained a CLT certification through ACOLS. I want to do my part to help lymphedema patients deal with this lifelong condition. Manual Lymphatic Drainage became my specialty and allows me to help reduce swelling and pain not only in lymphedema patients, but also in a variety of post-operative situations such as after knee surgery or plastic surgery, after traumatic events like sprains, and also in the subacute phase of chronic inflammatory processes like Rheumatoid Arthritis.
I believe that massage should be part of an integrated approach to well-being. It should belong in our life as a habit that can make us whole.
