I have received and continue to receive training in different specialties in order to help relieve all the aches and pains our bodies go through in our lifetimes. From childbirth, growing pains, sports injuries, surgeries, aging, and the everyday grind of life.
Migraines/headaches are so common among adults and children, that this became a priority on my list of training. As a headache sufferer, I know what people are going through. I have studied and practiced many techniques and have found great success in these, bringing that #9 on the rich-tor scale migraine, down to a bearable level, quickly, and then, hopefully, gone entirely.
Therapeutic cupping. The technique of placing a cup (glass, silicon, rubber, plastic, depends on the site and the amount of adhesions) on the skin in such a fashion that it "lifts" the skin, performing something called "myofascial release". This is where we have adhesions on the muscle or tendons that restrict movement, range of motion and cause a great deal of pain. Sometimes, that feeling of "throwing your back out", is just adhesions that are restricting you. Some mild, moderate or even deep cupping is needed to release these fascial adhesions and relieve pain.
Back pain is often the culprit is a muscular imbalance brought on by an injury, poor posture, too much repetitive work, or too much time sitting. Many techniques require work in the gluteal (butt) area. This may seem weird to some, but these are very important muscle groups and they do so many jobs, from helping us sit, stand, dance, run, walk and climb. There are very few body movements that can be made without using these muscles. I help relax tired, overstressed muscles that are pulling bones out of alignment and bring them back to a more natural, healthy and flexible state.
Pre/post surgical massage is so important to maintain well-being and speed up the healing process. Surgery is very traumatic on our bodies. It is very important to have pre-surgical massage in order to properly gauge your recovery post-surgery. I assess the surgical site and we work up a plan for treatment, along with you doctor or physical therapist, and your comfort level, to increase your body's natural ability to heal itself.
Deep tissue, pre/post natal, hot stones, relaxation, sports massage, myofascial release and manual lymphatic drainage are also subjects of great interest to me. Practicing all these techniques on a daily basis helps keep everything fresh in my brain and in my hands!
You'll be surprised how quickly we can work together to make measurable improvements and get you feeling better.
