My name is Matthew Wootten, Owner of Seed and
Path. I was diagnosed at age 3 with Cerebral Palsy and had been suffering
from muscle spasms and constricted tendons in the right side of my body for as
long as I can remember. My childhood was filled with physical and occupational
therapy to help fix my body but, at the age 12, its effectiveness had run its
course. My body couldn't improve any further without invasive surgeries or
large doses of medication with numerous side effects. Essentially western medicine
had no cure to offer me.
This inspired me to reevaluate what "health" and
"wellness" meant for me. It encouraged me to explore new ways of
treating my chronic pain, muscle spasms, and neuropathy. This was the beginning
of my path to meditation,
energy work, yoga, martial arts, and massage. I became a Reiki practitioner in
2002 and began to explore its practice with meditation and shamanic work and
fell in love with working on the subtle body to improve quality of life. In
2011, I added "Massage Technician" to my practice, integrating
bodywork with the subtler aspects of Reiki. I took classes in Craniosacral
Therapy, Neuromuscular & Trigger Point Therapy, and Functional Restoration
Therapy. I studied Medical Assisting and LNA and have worked for many years
in hospice and homecare using a combination of Reiki, Massage, Range of Motion,
and guided meditation to improve quality of life for people in the final stages
of life.
I am passionate about helping others dealing with chronic conditions. I have come to realize that every body is different every day; no two people are exactly the same. For true wellness, you must find what works for your needs and make it a regular practice of self-care. I am grateful to be able to share my practice in a way that can benefit everyone. I am excited to help plant the seed of healing in the world, and I am dedicated to nurturing others on their paths as they do the same.

I worked in office as a medical assistant after receiving my initial massage training in 2011. Working with DO's and MD's allowed me the opportunity to use both Reiki and massage techniques to treat chronic conditions and pain under a providers supervision. This gave me the foundation for my therapeutic approach to bodywork and wellness.
Working as an in-home care provider for patients on hospice, or who are bed bound/chair bound sharpened my expertise in working with neuroatypical and chronic condition patients. It has taught me how to appropriately adjust techniques and touch to meet clients where they are on any given day and help teach them how they can better self-manage their symptoms.
