LMT, OMT

Muscular Therapy Institute, Cambridge, MA 2002

A graduate of The Muscular Therapy Institute in 2002, Helen focuses on the alignment of the spine which encourages the softening of muscle tension, calming of nerve irritability, and a decrease of the inflammatory response brought on by injury or structural imbalances.

Her continued studies allow her to offer various modalities which affect the fascial system, central nervous system, and the lympahtic system. Myofascial Release (MFR) and Cranio Sacral Therapy (CST) are often blended in order to target specific areas of restriction; allowing for change at deep levels of the central nervous system as well as to the more superficial layers of soft tissue. Helen has had advanced training in both MFR and CST.

Scar Tissue Management is used to help soften unnecessary and unwanted restrictions that may contribute to client pain, limited range of motion in and around joints, limited muscle flexibility, edema, and possible nerve impingement. This work is very specific, slow and gentle. Helen received certification in Scar Tissue Management in 2014.

Trained in the Emil Vodder Method of Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) in 2005, Helen may use MLD as a way of encouraging more efficient lymphatic flow which can help reduce edema. Her training allows her to work with low risk clients.

Having received her certification in Orthopedic Massage in 2013, she now has a better understanding of a variety of orthopedic conditions ranging from tendonitis to spinal anomalies.
She incorporates several modalities in each session or simply one or two. This decision will be directed by client preference, need, and therapist guidance.
