My name is Irena Mitev and I am a graduate of Massage U in Silverton, Oregon. I am licensed by the State of Oregon and a member of AMBP Massage Association. My home country is the beautiful Mediterranean land of Macedonia, Europe. Growing up, I studied at the University of Cyril and Methodius Medical School in Skopje.
During my medical studies I learned to appreciate the intricacy of the human body and became fascinated by its anatomy and physiology. However, halfway through my studies I realized that I was more interested in natural ways of healing than the mainstream medical approach. That is when I discovered the healing benefits of massage and essential oils--the tools of aromatherapy.
In 1993, because of a job opportunity, my family moved from Macedonia to the US. Delighted by the beauty of the Willamette Valley, the surrounding nature and kind people, my husband and I decided to raise our family in Corvallis, OR. While my husband worked at Hewlett Packard, I homeschooled our four children who are all grown now and graduated from OSU.
During this time, I decided to enroll in a massage school. My belief that massage therapy is not just a way to relax, but also a profound method of healing was strengthened even more. Taking courses on aromatherapy stirred my curiosity about essential oils once again. So after finishing school, I continued to study aromatherapy with CARE, The Center for Aromatherapy Research and Education.
Since my graduation from massage school in 2006, I have continued to develop my massage skills and study a variety of techniques: Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue Therapy, Cross Fiber Friction Therapy, Applied Kinesiology, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Sound Therapy, Hot Stone, Shiatsu, and Craniosacral Therapy.
It is through these various types of techniques and therapies that I am able to bring a unique element to each massage session. Knowing that no single technique or approach is most effective for every person, my goal as a massage therapist is to create a healing session that is specific for each of my clients and suits their individual needs.
